Agate Edge (Second)

$250.00

This agate ware vase is made from a white stoneware clay and was hand thrown by me. Agate ware is made by incorporating a small amount of mason stains (a ceramic colorant) into the larger amount of clay being used to create a piece. By carefully adding the colored clay into the main piece and not mixing it in too much, it is subject to wonderful and unique pattern making as it goes through the wheel-throwing process. The centrifugal force of the wheel spins and places the colors incorporated pigments in a unique and unrepeatable pattern. The results are absolutely singular and have the appearance of sedimentary rock.

Please note, this piece is discounted due to glazing imperfections and a small chip on the foot of the vase (see last two photos).

This vase is water-tight and functional.

Measures 10” x 10”
