These pieces are made by carefully painting and layering different clay and glazes onto the pot to create delicate yet intricate stratification of color and texture. They have the appearance of bark and look as if they were pulled right out of the ground!
These are functional water-tight vases but remain slightly delicate. The outside is like tree bark in that if it were bumped hard it could break off. However, I have already removed all lose pieces of ceramic.
